Ether Stability Maintained With NEW Screw-Top Container Design
Ethers can form explosive peroxides, potentially endangering chemists, and
interfering with analytical results. The new pressure-rated ether can is constructed of
high grade aluminum to reduce the risk of peroxide formation and its seamless construction
minimizes vapor leaks. Our new proprietary screw-top cap allows repeated access and
ensures a tight closure to reduce exposure to the atmosphere. In addition, the
ether is packaged under a blanket of nitrogen, eliminating exposure to oxygen during
packaging, a key factor in peroxide formation. The product stability resulting from the
use of our container allows Mallinckrodt reagent grade ether to be packaged with a BHT
preservative level as low as 0.5 ppm. This lower preservative content reduces potential
interference in your reactions.
